Director of HR and Finance
Fargo, ND - Hybrid Remote

In 2011, prior to Unseen’s existance, its co-founder traveled to overseas and was struck by the amazing work he saw of nonprofits serving vulnerable people. It made him wonder how many more lives could be impacted if nonprofits were equipped to raise more funds. This became Unseen’s focus. We partner with 20+ anti-trafficking orgs in 20+ counties, producing customized fundraising materials that they use to boost their funding levels so that they can serve more people. Your role supports our employees who work directly with our partners.

  • Salary: $30-$40/hr depending on experience
  • Job class: Part-time direct hire, 25 hours per week (no insurance benefits)
  • Paid time off: Prorated vacation leave, sick leave, holidays, and summer short Fridays
  • Reports to: CEO
  • Location: Fargo-based preferred, hybrid (some work from home, some from office)

  • Develop, implement, and maintain Unseen's HR policies, procedures, and strategies
  • Liaise with various entities, including accounting firm, insurance brokers, state offices
  • Oversee Unseen's employee recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding
  • Ensure Unseen's compliance with labor laws and regulations
  • Administer employee benefits programs, i.e., insurance plans, 401k, etc.
  • Provide support to managers and employees on HR-related matters
  • Maintain, write, and edit organizational policies and processes
  • Conduct thoughtful and timely communication via email, Slack, Zoom, and phone
  • Troubleshoot operational problems as they arise
  • Revise strategic plan during annual budget planning cycle
  • Write annual budget by account line, by class, and by month
  • Meet with Unseen's executives to approve annual budget and prepare for it QBO
  • Analyze and distribute monthly financial statements produced by an accountant
  • In partnership with auditor and accounting firm, provide supporting data that helps produce annual audit, 990 tax return, and state registrations
  • Participate in monthly 1 hr Zoom meeting with CEO and 1 hr Zoom meeting with CPO
  • Participate in monthly executive strategy meetings from HR and finance perspective


  • Degree in a related field
  • Proven experience in similar role(s)
  • Working knowledge of HR and finance practices
  • Understanding of general employment laws
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build healthy relationships with all employees
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a range of personalities
  • Organizational skills, including disciplined methods to meet deadlines
